My name is Paul Hallett. I am a Certified PMC instructor and a warm glass worker. I teach in Halifax (West Yorkshire, UK). Craftgemz has grown out of my own need to find good quality, kiln-firable gemstones to use in my PMC work. From the bewildering array of possibilities I have found only a few work out well. After spending long hours researching and testing it occured to me that others may be in the same situation as I was and unwilling to take a risk on a gemstone not surviving the kiln after all the hard work of creating the piece.
Our customers range from PMC crafters, to jewellers, milliners, clothes and shoe designers, general retail and the public. All are welcome. The shop is designed so you can buy exactly what you need for a project.
Our products include a wide range of synthetic gemstones at some of the best prices - please click on the link for technical information. Our our stones are pre-tested for PMC use, but are also perfect for student, hobbyist jewellers as well as fashion designers in many fields. Also to come in our range are a selection of beads, pearls other "craftgemz" that will suit a variety of applications. Our products are of the highest quality if not completely satisfied contact us.
For my fellow PMC'rs all the synthetic stones have been tested up to the top PMC firing temperature and came out fine (PLEASE NOTE ; the pearls are NOT fireable and the glass cabs etc. i would not recommend over 730 degrees C)
For the jewellers, the stones are all loupe clean and available in a range of sizes and cuts that mirror those used by commercial "fine" jewellers ( and a few more - check out the "stars" ). Why risk real diamonds and rubies in your work when you can achieve the same effect for a fraction of the cost. Of course you must specify synthetic or SYN stones where used in your work..
For fashion, hat or shoe designers the stones and be applied in various ways - glue gun, embedded in a variety of media, bezels.
